23 Mar A: COVID-19 Help needed
I have been to a meeting at the Council Offices with local members of voluntary groups within the Gillingham community to provide a coordinated response to the current crisis. The situation is changing at an alarming pace and it is hoped the community will pull together to get through this.
The Town Council are building a list of volunteers to help use the skills and networks they may have to beat this together.
In the first instance, we have been asked to help with the distribution of postcards offering to shop/chat/post mail etc… to all the roads in Gillingham. The wonderful team at the council will act as the hub and co-ordinate the project, also they will be able to give up to date commentary as things change both locally and nationally.
Please could you disseminate this information through your staff and ask them to contact the Council on 01747 823588 or GTC@gillinghamdorset-tc.gov.uk, if they would be willing to take on a road to deliver the postcards and act as a volunteer to help shop/chat or if they have skills that may be useful in other ways.
Please note that by responding they are agreeing to the Council holding your details under GDPR and also that they are responsible for conducting their own risk assessments and actions.
